Rove: People Like Bush, but Not Iraq War

Talk about the White House spin machine. This is from Yahoo News:

WASHINGTON - Presidential adviser Karl Rove blamed the war in
Iraq on Monday for dragging down President Bush's job approval ratings in public opinion polls. "People like this president," Rove said. "They're just sour right now on the war."

Rove said that Bush's likeability ratings are far higher than his approval ratings. "There is a disconnect" because of the Iraq conflict, Rove told the American Enterprise Institute.

"I think the war looms over everything. There's no doubt about it," Rove said during a question-and-answer session after a speech on the economy at the conservative think tank.

People like this president, but they don't like the war? A disconnect because of the Iraq conflict? It is more than just the Iraq conflict--it is the arrogance of this Bush White House that has disconnected itself from the American people. This is an administration that believes itself to be above the law. This is an administration that believes the interests of corporations and rich elites take precedent over that of the American people. This is an administration that believes in extreme nationalism and imperialism regarding foreign affairs, rather than internationalism and coalition-building. This is an administration that believes in destroying both The Constitution and The Bill of Rights, believes in destroying the system of checks and balances for that of a totalitarian dictatorship. This is an administration that believes in the government's ignoring of the poor, the helpless, the displaced, and the distressed, while using that same government to further their own cronyism. People no longer like President Bush because he has taken the basic principles of government serving for the interests of its people, and twisted it into a government that serves the interests of those who govern at the expense of its people. The more that President Bush panders towards this extremist views, the greater his poll ratings are going to suffer.
