Rumors of Bush verses Clinton 2

I'm starting to see through the news, political talk and blog sites, some interesting rumors in the 2008 Presidential election. First, there has always been the rumor of Hillary Clinton running for president in 2008. She has forminable assets--currently a senator in New York, highly respected in the Democratic Party, and universally well-known. She also has a huge liability as being the wife of former president Bill Clinton and is universally hated by conservatives and right-wingers. I also found this little Associated Press article on who would win a Laura Bush/Hillary matchup. Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne Cheney both predicted a Laura Bush win over Hillary during an interviewed for Larry King Live. Finally, to stir the pot a little more, a second Associated Press article stated that Jeb Bush would not run president in 2008 after his father, former president George Bush Senior stated he would like to see son Jeb run.

That's a lot of speculation going on for 2008. It is all dream match-ups with dream candidates between the party's faithful. It doesn't surprise me, considering 2008 is a wide open field for the elections. Both George W and brother Jeb are locked into their offices via term limits--Jeb's term as governor of Florida expires in 2007. Hillary Clinton will be up for reelection in the Senate in 2006. But if she's serious to run for President in 2008, she will have to start campaigning in 2007 in Iowa and New Hampshire. Of course, the First Lady Laura Bush's performance in her tour of the Middle East has probably become a rapturous love-fest among the conservative Republicans--especially with how she has had to deal with the foreign protests against President Bush's war in Iraq. So Laura Bush has become "presidential" in terms of television image and that she should run as a first Republican female nominee against first female Democrat Hillary. A battle of the first ladies? Or is it going to be Jeb Bush verses Hillary? A Bush dynasty verses a Clinton dynasty? Is Chelsea Clinton ready to run against the Bush twins in 2012 or 2016?

Are we there yet?
