ATLANTA - Rudolph Giuliani, the former New York mayor considered a potential 2008 candidate for president, headlined a fundraiser Thursday for former Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed in his run for Georgia lieutenant governor.
The two politicians were effusive in their praise for one another as they entered the Atlanta fundraiser just before noon.
"I just want to say I believe Rudy Giuliani is one of the finest leaders in not only the Republican Party but in either party," Reed said.
Giuliani responded: "We're here to get you elected. It would be a great thing for Georgia."
You've got to love the Republican Party--they certainly know how to kiss ass to their extremists.

Interesting thought. I don't know why Giuliani is pandering and sucking up towards the Religious Right. I know that Giuliani is pandering towards the Religious Right wing-nut's political base, but for what reason? Is Giuliani also looking towards a 2008 presidential run on the Republican ticket? Arizona Senator John McCain has been nakedly sucking up towards the Religious Right, and it is so obvious that McCain wants to run for president in 2008--he just recently a commencement speech to the graduating class of Jerry Falwell's Liberty University. So I find it amazing that these supposidly moderate Republican politicians have dropped any sort of pretense in their pandering towards the religious base. What is their political goal in this calculation?
