NEW YORK Ann Coulter, fresh from implying that John Edwards is a "faggot," now has a statement on her Web site saying Edwards campaign manager David Bonior "is fronting for Arab terrorists."
Coulter made the homophobic slur about Edwards, a Democratic presidential candidate married to a woman, during a Friday speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
Soon after, Bonior announced he was sending out a fund-raising letter seeking "Coulter Cash" to "show every would-be Republican mouthpiece that their bigoted attacks will not intimidate this campaign."
A copy of Bonior's letter was posted on Coulter's Web site, with this note underneath: "It's always good to divert Bonior from his principal pastime which is fronting for Arab terrorists."
Bonior was elected to Congress half a dozen times in Michigan, and served in Vietnam.
Universal Press Syndicate distributes Coulter's weekly newspaper column. A spokesperson there told E&P today that Universal would not comment about something Coulter said outside her column. The syndicate also declined to comment on what steps it might be taking if Coulter had used the "N" word instead of the "F" word.
Coulter's Friday remark went as follows: "I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I -- so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."
Audience members at the conservative gathering initially appeared startled, but then many of them laughed and applauded Coulter's slur.
I don't know what else to say about Coulter--aside from the fact that she is completely insane here! Does she have some secret love-hate crush for John Edwards? First she implies that John Edwards is a "faggot" last Friday, and now Monday rolls around and she's accusing the Edwards' campaign of fronting for Arab terrorists.
Now I have a screenshot of Coulter's website, with the incriminating comment here:
Ann Coulter's website.
Ann Coulter is the face and voice of the Republican Party. It is a party that expresses itself in hatred and vitriol against everything that does not conform to its hard-lined ideology. It is a party that attacks all opposition with a vicious extremism, while claiming itself to be a victim of such extremism. It is a party of homophobia and gay bashing. It is a party that equates dissent with treason, with terrorism. It is a party that subjugates women, gays, blacks, Hispanics, Orientals, and any other minority group to a second-class citizenship. It is a party that wraps itself in the American flag, while at the same time, systematically destroys the Constitution, the system of checks and balances, and the individual rights and freedoms of Americans for a warped, totalitarian dictatorship and a police state. It is a party of fascism--cozying up to corporate and rich elite interests, while ignoring the problems of American workers who can't find jobs due to outsourcing, who can't gain an education due to escalating college costs, and who must be forced to compete for jobs with even lower wages due to the influx of illegal immigration and the same corporate business interests that happily take advantage of such illegal immigration. If you are not a White Anglo Saxon Protestant that is a CEO of a major corporation, then you have no place in this Republican Party.
Welcome to the New Republican Party.
Update: I found this YouTube video through Shakespeare's Sister, that shows some backstage photo op session between Ann Coulter and Mitt Romney. In the video, Coulter says to Romney, "You know, the photo of you and me together is going to become famous when you do something I don't like and I viciously attack you for it." I'm not sure what to say about this video--oh, there is certainly a lot of irony within Coulter's comment. Because Coulter went out on stage, gay-bashed Edwards, and was viciously attacked for her repulsive statements. Even more ironic is that it was Mitt Romney who introduced Coulter to the CPAC audience. So here is the YouTube video of Ann Coulter schmoozing around with Mitt Romney:
