MSNBC & Fox News devoted more coverage to Anna Nicole Smith than Walter Reed

I found this off Think Progress, and I'm reposting it here. It is just incredible:

Our national media embarrassment was again on full display on Friday. Both MSNBC and Fox News devoted more coverage to Anna Nicole Smith — three weeks after her death on Feb. 8 — than they did to the multiple developments involving the neglect and deplorable conditions at Walter Reed military hospital.

The most lop-sided coverage by far was aired by Fox News, which featured only 10 references to Walter Reed compared to 121 of Anna Nicole — roughly 12 times the coverage. MSNBC featured 84 references to Walter Reed and 96 to Anna Nicole.

And here is a graph which shows the story references of both Anna Nicole's funeral, and the Walter Reed scandal from Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN:

This is what happens when the corporate media puts profits over the need of informing Americans about news. It is all about big ratings, big advertising dollars, and big profits which caused the corporate media to devote more news time to Anna Nicole than Walter Reed. In the corporate media's view, stories of sex, death, and a Dynasty-like courtroom battle over Anna Nicole's estate, and the custody of her infant daughter, trumps stories about a bunch of disabled veterans living in squalid VA hospitals.

What do you expect from the corporate media?

Update: In a real bit of irony here, I found this post on Jesus' General which shows the number of posts made on the right-wing blogs regarding the Walter Reed scandal. Here is the graph on Jesus' General:

If anything, the conservative blogs have practically ignored the Walter Reed scandal.
